The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) provides resources and support to researchers, scholars, and creators to forge new frontiers of discovery through the Arts and Humanities Initiative (AHI).
This program encourages leading-edge scholarship, creative activities, and interdisciplinary research.

Eligibility
- At the time of application, the following UI personnel in the arts and humanities disciplines are eligible to apply:
- Tenure-track or tenured faculty
- Clinical track faculty
- Research track faculty
- Instructional faculty
- Staff members whose primary job responsibilities include research and scholarship and have at least a 50% university appointment during the academic year of the project.
- Select from one of three grant categories
- AHI Standard Grant: Accepts individual or collaborative grant applications up to $7,500.
- AHI Major Project Grant: Accepts applications up to $30,000 in support of preliminary work for highly innovative projects that impact the field, discipline, or broader community.
- AHI Major Conference Grant: Accepts applications up to $10,000 in support of new conferences, symposia, seminars, colloquia, or workshops.
