The Grant Support Office (GSO) coordinates research development activities, pre-award proposal support, and post-award grant management support for researchers throughout the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It works closely with departmental staff to ensure that all faculty have access to comprehensive grant development and management services.
Grant Support Office services
Research development
- Develop research funding strategies
- Identify potential funding opportunities
- Facilitate collaboration for team projects
- Share resources such as sample proposals
Pre-award grant support
- Connect faculty with departmental support
- Develop checklists and timelines
- Review and interpret application guidelines
- Provide institutional information
- Develop budgets and budget justifications
- Assist with cost-sharing requirements
- Assist with ancillary materials
- Draft boilerplate language
- Review proposals for compliance and clarity
- Review for responsiveness to review criteria
- Proofread proposal documents
- Manage electronic upload and submission (Cayuse, Research.gov, Proposal Central, etc.)
- Initiate UIRIS routing form
- Assist with navigating UI internal processes
Post-award grant support
- Connect faculty with departmental support
- Manage budgets and provide projections
- Assist with navigating internal compliance requirements
- Coordinate with UI units such as Division of Sponsored Programs, Grant Accounting Office, Human Subjects Office, etc.
- Facilitate budget revisions, no-cost extensions, and other sponsor documentation
- Answer questions regarding sponsor reporting requirements
