Please submit Termination transaction requests for visiting faculty and graduate student employees that are ending a Spring 2026 or AY 25-26 appointment. The effective end date for these academic appointments should be May 19, 2026. For graduate appointments, it’s important to select the correct reason code. The “Graduation” reason code should only be used if the graduate student is graduating in May (not summer) and leaving the University (not transferring out of current department). Otherwise, “End of Appointment” reason code should be used.
The “Graduation” reason code signals the Benefits office to end health and/or dental insurance on May 31, 2026. Terminations should be submitted in a timely manner so the Benefits office can mail COBRA information to the graduate student. If they elect to enroll, coverage begins June 1, 2026. If a termination form is not submitted before payroll cutoff (May 22) the graduate student will have a triple deduction of insurance premiums (to cover June, July, and August) taken from their final June 1 paycheck.
