See below message from Russ Ganim, Associate Provost and Dean, International Programs:

Please see the recording of last week's webinar that covered the new final rule by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that changes how many F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors are admitted to and maintain status in the United States. The rule is scheduled to take effect on September 15, 2026.

During the webinar, staff explained the key changes, including new requirements related to changes in educational objectives, program extensions, and the new admit until date. The session covered what these changes mean for current and future F-1 and J-1 students and scholars, as well as for faculty and staff who advise or work with them.

To those of you that were able to attend last week's webinar, thank you.

If you are a student or scholar and have any questions, please meet with an ISSS advisor during advising hours. For all others, please direct any questions to Michael Bortscheller.
