The National Institutes of Health will require a Data Management & Sharing Plan for applications submitted on or after Jan. 25, 2023, to help promote sharing of scientific data. This document will be reviewed by NIH program staff for completeness and acceptability. Awardees are expected to carry out the data management and sharing activities outlined in their approved plans as a term and condition of their award.
Each Data Management and Sharing Plan should be specific to the research project and to the NIH program as the requirements are not streamlined across all NIH institutes and centers.
The Data Management and Sharing Plan will apply to all awards that generate scientific data. Review the full list.
The UI NIH Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy Implementation Working Group presented information about this new requirement to CLAS faculty and staff on Jan. 18, 2023. View slides or watch presentation and Q&A session.
