Liz Lundberg, Associate Director for Curriculum and Instruction, facilitates the process of curricular change. When departments wish to create or revise academic programs or courses, Liz works with faculty to develop their plans, obtain the right approvals, and implement the changes. She also collaborates with several teams in the Office of the Registrar to review and update the General Catalog, MAUI information about academic organizations and programs of study, and the course library.

Before joining CLAS UP, Liz worked in academic advising for over eight years. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Iowa, an MA in English from Rhode Island College, and a BA in English and American Literature and Gender and Sexuality Studies from New York University. She has taught a variety of composition, rhetoric, literature, first-year seminar, and college transition courses. (She has also worked as a writing tutor, proofreader, editor, and dissertation whisperer.)

Liz enjoys solving problems at the structural level. Much of her work involves reviewing small details to ensure they align with big systems. She also enjoys demystifying college processes—something she used to do for students and now often does for staff and faculty. Her years in teaching and advising inform all of her curricular work: she is committed to improving clarity, consistency, and transparency for students wherever possible. Outside of work, Liz reads voraciously, plays piano and drums, and spends a lot of time with her big, blended family.
