The College, in collaboration with International Programs, announces the 2024-2025 International Engagement Teaching Awards. All tenure-track, instructional track, and clinical-track faculty members holding a minimum 50% appointment in CLAS, are eligible to be nominated. This award can only be won once, but previous nominees who did not receive an award are eligible for re-nomination.
This award is given annually to CLAS faculty members in recognition of excellence in any of the following areas:
- Creating learning environments that encourage interactions between international and domestic students, and support international students’ integration into the University community, inside and outside the classroom.
- Using disciplinary or interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches in the curriculum that add and/or enhance international perspective.
- Encouraging students to actively integrate international internships and/or study abroad programs into their education.
- Service work supporting and/or developing programs which offer internationally-focused learning experiences.
- Fostering other international experiences for undergraduate or graduate students.
Departments may submit no more than one nomination. The deadline for receipt of all nomination materials is Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
The instructions for nominations for the Collegiate Teaching Awards is located here, along with the nomination cover page. All nomination materials must be submitted by the deadline to Jennifer Bertrand (jennifer-bertrand@uiowa.edu), who staffs the CLAS Teaching Awards Committee.
The selection of the International Engagement Teaching Award winners is done by the CLAS Teaching Awards Committee. We expect to give up to two awards for 2024-2025.
The Committee seeks a wide selection of nominations from across CLAS and that departments will give full consideration to all eligible candidates.
This award carries a $2,000 honorarium.
