Faculty and instructors can help ensure students are aware of the support available at the Writing Center by posting the description below on ICON and emailing it to students. (Note: Please do not require students to visit the Writing Center, or offer extra credit for doing so, as this makes it difficult for students who are genuinely interested in working on their writing to find an available appointment).
The Writing Center offers individual consultations on all kinds of writing projects, including course assignments, theses and dissertations, job application materials, personal writing, and creative pieces. Services are free and available to all students, faculty and staff.
- Standing weekly meetings (enrollment program): This program is for writers looking for consistent support throughout the semester as well as for those with a lot of writing who don't want to fight the crowds for appointments. Undergraduate students get priority.
- Reserve up to three 30-minute appointments a week using our online schedule. Don't wait until the last minute! Bring us your assignments and ideas, and we'll help make sure you get off to a good start.
- Submit a draft to our document review system and get written comments and suggestions.
- Graduate students can also sign up for our Write ON program which is designed to help them develop consistent productive writing habits.
