The Developmental Studies Hybridoma Bank (DSHB) Humanities Scholar Award provides support to tenured CLAS faculty for an approved research project within the humanities, including the digital humanities.
Approximately three awards will be made annually, depending upon amounts requested. Awards with budgets ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 may be used for professional travel, materials, hardware or personnel needed specifically for digital projects, or other defined research needs. Funds must be spent within two years of receipt of the award. Awards are expected to result in at least one of the following: a project for publication, a national/international presentation, or a grant application to a major external source such as the NEH or ACLS. Awardees will report briefly on their DSHB-funded activity at the close of the award period.
To apply, eligible faculty should complete the application which can be found here and include a one-page narrative proposal along with a brief itemized budget. Budget requests may range from $1,000 to $3,000. The complete application, signed by the DEO(s), along with a two-page abbreviated CV focused on scholarly activities, must be sent to the Assistant to the Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure, Catherine Moore. Applications are due to the DEO by Monday, October 28, 2024, and to the Assistant to the Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure by Monday, November 11, 2024.
Applications are reviewed for approval by the CLAS Dean and Associate Deans. Please contact the Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure Joshua Weiner with any questions. Please see the policy website for reference as well.
