This is a reminder that departments recently received a reminder that the University is required to provide the Board of Regents with a summary of non-credit academic activities conducted during the previous year. The report to the Regents requires the University to identify enrollments by CIP Code.

The deadline for each department to submit the Excel Reporting Sheet to Jody Fisher (jody-fisher@uiowa.eduis Friday, December 20, 2024, and the instructions are copied below.

Thank you for your participation in this process. It is really important for us to reflect the work we are doing that does not bear academic credits. We appreciate your time in recording these activities.

If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to jody-fisher@uiowa.edu

Please forward this request to the person(s) responsible for non-credit education in your college or unit for completion.

Each year the University is required to provide the Board of Regents with a summary of non-credit academic activities conducted during the previous year. The report to the Regents requires the University to identify enrollments by CIP Code. I am sure that each college/unit collects more detailed information to describe its services throughout the state, but I am limiting my request to the information required by the Regents.

Registrations reported should include any structured non-credit learning experience of one hour or more. The activities may be part of a specific academic college/school, offered through distance education, continuing education, or extension services. Educational goals must be consistent with the University’s mission and not be activities that are part of a degree-granting program or serve as enhancements for degree-seeking students.

  • The reporting period is Summer 2023 (June) to Spring 2024 (May).
  • The experience may be offered face-to-face, online, or through other methods of self-study.

Examples of academic activities to report include:

  • non-credit career development seminars
  • activities associated with study abroad
  • non-credit workshops with visiting artists

Please exclude the following activities:

  • Please exclude K-12 non-credit academic activities.
  • Please exclude any recreational activities or athletic camps.
  • Please exclude non-credit training for University employees (i.e. Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, Cash Handling Procedures, Learning and Development training workshops).
  • You should also exclude recruiting events bringing high school students to campus.

Please enter your unit’s non-credit academic activities by CIP Code and delivery mode on the Excel sheet that was emailed to departments and return to me (jody-fisher@uiowa.edu) by December 20, 2024.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this request.

Thank you,
