The Stevens Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship, established in memory of Guy and Adeline Stevens, provides two semesters of undergraduate tuition to a junior in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences pursuing a natural science degree. Natural sciences would be the following majors: Astronomy, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental Sciences, Exercise Science, Geoscience, Health Promotion, Human Physiology, Informatics, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Physics, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Science, Statistics, and Sustainability Science.

The scholarship is awarded based on professional promise, personal integrity, and academic excellence (minimum 3.80 GPA). Membership in Phi Beta Kappa is not required. This scholarship is not processed through the Iowa Scholarship Portal.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a junior with at least 75 semester hours by Spring 2025.
  • Minimum 3.80 UI cumulative GPA.
  • Must be pursuing a natural science degree.
  • It requires three letters of recommendation (two academic and one personal).

How To Apply: New, Easier & Online Application Process: 

  1. Student fills out the online application for Stevens Scholarship.
  2. Student shares the same online application link with their three references (two academic, one personal). note: In the online application, references will be asked six multiple-choice/short-answer questions. Also, they can either type or, if they have written a formal recommendation letter, copy/paste that into the online application to complete their part of the application. 

All materials are due Friday, Feb. 2, 2025.
