The CLAS Grant Support Office (GSO) is excited to share updates to the GSO section of the CLAS Resource site as part of an ongoing effort to improve the section's usability and enhance the support it offers.

The grant process is complex, from applying for funding to managing an award. The GSO goal is to have the information be a comprehensive internal resource that streamlines this process and alleviates the accompanying administrative challenges for faculty of all disciplines and career stages.

The expanded section showcases relevant funding opportunities, allows faculty to initiate the grant support process, and provides pre- and post-award guidance and easy access to needed information.

The updated homepage briefly explains GSO services, explains how to contact the office, and helps faculty locate their primary GSO contact by department. It also highlights research-related news and includes a convenient way for faculty to access the pre-award intake form.

The most popular pageFunding Opportunities and Deadlines— has also been reorganized to streamline the search for discipline-specific funding. Two new subpagesSTEM Funding and Arts and Humanities Funding—showcase upcoming GSO-curated federal and private external funding tailored to their respective disciplines. The reworked funding page now offers quick access to internal funding, limited submission opportunities, and programs for early career faculty and graduate students.

In addition to updating funding pages, three new pages are published—Pre-Award SupportPost-Award Support, and FAQ—to better outline our services and provide easy access to necessary information.

  • Pre-Award Support provides key steps that faculty can take when preparing proposals and a reminder of the university’s internal submission timelines. Additionally, a Request Grant Support page reinforces submission timelines and how to request grant support when preparing a submission.
  • Post-Award Support provides award management guidance and access to information regarding University and sponsor policies and procedures.
  • FAQ supplements these support pages by consolidating frequently needed information and answers to common inquiries into one accessible resource. Sections within the FAQ include Pre-Award, Post-Award, and guidance for major federal sponsors.

The updates shared here are only the beginning. Whether you are a longstanding faculty member or a newer researcher, the goal is to make receiving grant support quick and easy so that you can focus on your research.

Please visit and bookmark the GSO pages on the CLAS Resource site, as it will continue to be a great resource to communicate relevant updates and necessary information to researchers.

Please contact GSO with questions or to discuss how the office can best assist you with your research goals.
