Get involved with the University of Iowa Phi Beta Kappa chapter

The Alpha of Iowa chapter at the University of Iowa is housed in CLAS and welcomes participation of faculty and staff who are members of Phi Beta Kappa. In fall 2026, the chapter will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the national society, and we would love for members on campus to get involved and help the chapter continue to thrive. With a network of 290+ chapters nationwide, Phi Beta Kappa faculty and staff members lead chapters and oversee student selection and induction, conferring lifelong membership in the Society.

We are currently looking for faculty and staff to volunteer to serve as PBK officers. The group will be selecting a scholarship recipient for the PBK Stevens Scholarship, preparing for the induction ceremony later this spring, and organizing events for our current PBK student members. Visit the Phi Beta Kappa chapter website for more information about the chapter.

Please contact Associate Dean Cornelia Lang or email Phi Beta Kappa regarding your interest or for more information.
