As many of you know, I have been gathering the concerns of CLAS faculty and graduate students who work with human subjects about the timeliness of IRB review by our Human Subjects Office. I have brought these to the OVPR, which oversees the HSO/IRB, and the Provost. Over the past year, I served on a small committee that met several times a month with OVPR leadership as they put an IRB Efficiency Initiative plan together and began to execute it. They have a nice website via which they have provided monthly updates on progress, which I have pointed you to in prior CLAS Business Updates. There have been substantial improvements, which I hope CLAS researchers are seeing as they move their projects through.
