The deadline to register for the 2025 Graduate Engagement Corps (GEC) is fast approaching! The Office of Community Engagement will be accepting applications for the 2025 GEC Cohort through Friday, November 22nd

A three-day Orientation will kick off the GEC from January 8th-10th, 2025, running daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This in-person event will introduce graduate students to community engagement principles and best practices. Following the Orientation, participants can enhance their knowledge through additional workshops and training throughout the Spring semester.

Grant funding will be available for GEC participants to apply for in late Spring. To be eligible, students must complete the Orientation and attend at least three workshops offered by the Office of Community Engagement during the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a great opportunity to deepen your expertise and make a meaningful impact in the community. Registration takes less than 5 minutes!

What is the Graduate Engagement Corps?

The Office of Community Engagement supports University of Iowa graduate students through the Graduate Engagement Corps (GEC). The GEC provides graduate students interested in community engagement with training, networking, and funding opportunities to elevate their research and increase their impact in local communities. For students interested in enhancing their professional skills and connections, the GEC will connect them to other students, faculty, and staff interested in community engagement and build support for interdisciplinary collaboration. Publishing, conferences, and professional development workshops further enhance the graduate student experience.

All applicants for the GEC Orientation must have the approval of their department's Director of Graduate Studies or Academic Advisor.

This application is due Friday, November 22nd and space is limited. Please email Jan Warren at jan-warren@uiowa.edu with any questions or concerns.
