The UI Center for Human Rights (UICHR) is hosting staff representatives of the organization Scholars At Risk (SAR) on campus March 4 - 6, 2025. The UI has been a member of the SAR network of universities and campuses since its founding. UICHR will host a lecture event and brief award ceremony on March 5 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Old Capitol Senate Chamber to recognize the work of Scholars At Risk to promote and protect academic freedom worldwide. The visit provides an opportunity for faculty to discuss the concept of academic freedom from a global perspective. Such a discussion may provide interesting points of reference for our university community.
