Join us for the CLAS Teaching Excellence Showcase on Friday, October 11 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room in the UCC Conference Center (UCC 2520D). The Showcase is an opportunity to celebrate and learn more about various initiatives faculty members are taking to promote student learning in and beyond CLAS.

 At the CLAS Teaching Excellence Showcase you can:

  • Learn about teaching innovation across the college.
  • Acknowledge the importance and impact of CLAS’s General Education program, the CLAS Coreand learn how to apply for a course to have CLAS Core GE status.
  • Celebrate faculty members in CLAS who have been recognized for teaching excellence.
  • Hear from leaders of Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs) about their grassroots work on topics like Equitable Grading Practices and Grading Reform, Data-informed Teaching, and Scholarship of Teaching. These FLCs are sponsored by the Center for Teaching.
  • Participate in a Q&A about FLCs to discover how to get involved and even how to start your own.
  • Learn about the college’s Herman J. and Eileen S. Schmidt Endowed Chair for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and hear from the current holder of that chair, Professor Rene Rocha (Department of Political Science and Latino/a/x Studies).
  • Find out about upcoming events and opportunities offered by the Office of Teaching and Learning Technology and the Center for Teaching to assist you in your teaching and learning activities. 

 The event is co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Center for Teaching, and the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology. We hope to see you there!
