Services
The Prototyping Services Team designs and builds instructional and research equipment. Services offered include Engineering Consultation, Design Consultation, Laser Cutting & Machining, and CNC Milling.
Prototyping Services works to coordinate projects across campus. We have previously collaborated with:
- Department of Physics
- College of Engineering
- Researchers in Carver Collge of Medicine
- CLAS Staff Appreciation
- John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center
- Iowa Neuroscience Institute
Training is available to staff and students. With three convenient locations, staff and students gain experience in designing and developing their projects. Past students have come from all across campus:
- Department of Biology
- College of Engineering - IMARC
- School of Art & Art History
- Center for the Book
- Theatre Arts
- CNC Milling
- Manual Mills
- Lathes
- Drill presses, saws, welding equipment, sheet metal fabrication equipment
Giving back to the community is a large part of who we are. We have worked with the following community groups:
- Summer of the Arts Carnival Parade
- Iowa Children's Museum
- Rohrbach Associates PC
- Iowa City Community Theatre
- Local Schools: ICCSD, Regina Education Center, Mid-Prairie Community School District
- International Artists: Hans Breder & Isabel Barbuzza
- $75/hour for University of Iowa clients
- $125/hr for external clients
- Flat rates can be negotiated on a per project basis.
